Last year the Board decided to revise the program calendar. This decision was made in order to put more focus and attention on the work of the Conveners. It was agreed that the critical work of MCW is to inform ourselves and take action about issues in arts and heritage, education, environment/ housing, health/child/family, and seniors and, therefore, should be given our utmost attention.
Each month a different convener will present, after discussion with as many of the members-at-large, an issue which concerns us about the environment in which we live. This will be followed by a guest speaker who has expertise in that domain. In this way, we hope to obtain more input from our members, and have a strong link between the issues about which we are interested (as per conveners) and the topics addressed by the speaker(s).
In short, the afternoon sessions will include:
1. A presentation and discussion by the convener with our members. 2. A presentation by an outside person as arranged by the convener.
Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month. The schedule and themes for the year are as follows:
Themes for Monthly Meetings 2013-2014
We look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions.
