In
order to achieve MCW's objectives and be an important a voice
for women in Montreal and the surrounding areas, our members
meet once a month. In addition, we organize initiatives
and events in order to raise awareness about the issues that are
important to our group. MCW consists of many individuals
and organizations that provide services for women, children,
seniors and members of our community who are challenged by
poverty, illness, disability and other issues. Through a
forum of representatives from our member groups and individuals,
we discuss the issues that matter to us and then reach out to
governments, media and other organizations for support. We
keep abreast of political matters on the local, provincial and
federal level and then inform and recommend policies and
services for our governments and the public to consider that
will benefit the members of our community.
Every October we celebrate
Women's History Month and commemorate all women who have achieved
much for our community and society. We especially emphasize
the achievements of the "Famous Five" Canadian women who won the
"Persons Case". Every December we award one
remarkable woman
in our community with our "Woman of the Year Award" for her
outstanding achievements. The celebration includes an honorary luncheon.
Our monthly meeting agenda and
yearly calendar are posted in this section to inform you of upcoming
topics that will be discussed, as well as some information about our
special annual MCW events and the various campaigns that we undertake.
